Anonymous asked: Does Allie the Ally come with a set of guidelines on being a good ally? Some sort of education that comes with the marketing campaign?
Not really, it’s more of a “showing support” project than an education project, but being a good ally is always important! In fact, taking a picture with Allie is a great way to show your support as an ally or as a member of the LGBTQ community!
I think being an Ally really depends on who you are supporting and what they need from you. So just ask your friends how they feel you can support them. You can of course always come to us with more questions if you have them :D
You could also check out the website for GLSEN’s Ally week at http://www.allyweek.org. They have great resources like their FAQ and Ally pledge .
Hi!
I read about your project in the GLSEN national chapter organizer…BTW congratulations on being named GSA of the year!!! I loved Allie so much that I brought her with me to the WRPI 91.5 radio station on Sunday morning. One of our local board members, Dr Ray Werking, Jr, is an executive producer for a radio show that airs every Sunday from 10 to 2. Its called Homoradio and has been on the air for over 20 years! Anyway, we mentioned your wonderful project on the air and I took a picture of Allie with Dr Ray.
Unfortunately I can’t figure out how to get it into this message. :(
Best of luck and keep up the great work!

lgbtadvocate asked: Hey! This is Jesse. We met at the GLSEN respect awards. I just wanted to tell you how nice it was to meet you and how much I admire your work. Please keep doing what you are doing!
You probably met Jenna, she and I run the blog! And I think she told us about you! We’re so happy to have your support, thank you so much! We hope to continue for a very long time :)
Anonymous asked: Hello... how do I get an image of Allie to print?
Hello Anon!
If you look on the top of the blog, there is a tab that says “Allie the Ally Doll” and looks like this:

If you click that link, it takes you to a page with Allie, and you can copy and paste her into a Word document, or print screen and put it into word, or whatever floats your boat!
Hope this helps! :D
Colleen Roots took Allie to Hamburg, Germany!

Students at James Hubert Blake High School launched a new kind of diplomacy this year to spread a message of tolerance for gays and lesbians : Call it rainbow diplomacy.
The school’s Gay-Straight Alliance created a rainbow-colored paper doll and sent her around the world. “Allie the Ally” can be printed out and photographed anywhere and with anyone who wants to show support for gay youth.
Since her official debut in November, Allie has become increasingly popular and enjoyed a jet-setting lifestyle.
“Allie’s been to Vietnam and Poland and Australia,” said Jenna Beers, a junior and president of the group. “She’s met celebrities.”
Ally was photographed on the set of “CSI” in Hollywood with Ted Danson, and at George Lopez’s celebrity golf tournament. She’s been glimpsed on a mountain top in Austria and outside the opera house in Sydney. She was also visible in Annapolis this year with Governor Martin O’ Malley (D) and Del. Anne R. Kaiser (D-Montgomery) when the legislature passed a measure to legalize same-sex marriage. Her many travels have been documented online.
